ODETTE NY_ Creative Wax

Jennifer Sarkilahti for  Odette NY: jewelry inspired by organic forms and industrial materials, natural, ancient artifacts and memorabilia.

Wax, ancient and modern techniques of carving and processing by hand.

Each design begins with a pencil sketch, which is accurately reproduced in wax as a small sculpture, only to be thrown into the metal.

Born in Virginia, Jennifer designs her handcrafts  product in New York, in her studio in Brooklyn.  

ODETTE NY combines the sensitivity of art and the evolving of fashion.
Traveling to far away places, art, walking through the woods, looking at an historical images collection, browsing through old books.

Wax and metal. Silver and gold, even non-precious metals such as bronze and brass.  

Jennifer is interested in the patina that develops over time.
Working with wax is like a sculpture. Each design has its own mold, where the jewels are replicated and then solidified.

Sometimes Jennifer prefers the freedom to create any designs. But others, it's nice to develop and explore a theme.

Bullet hole, animals, nature, circles, petit, sea: Odette NY collections. 

The last is based on the Scandinavian mountains, cutting out several variations of peaks to the right shape.

Jennifer does not want to communicate something specific: she just wants to create something beautiful, interesting, unique, authentic. 

The craftsmanship and the selection of her works move away from what the designer said.

A classic style, a bohemian flair.  

The distinctive sign of Odette NY is a biological aestethics.
Her creativity is something that is impossible to separate by, as a guiding force.  

The expression of what she sees and what she is able to shape with herhands.

Jennifer Sarkilahti per Odette NY: una linea di gioielli ispirata da forme organiche e industriali, materiali naturali, manufatti antichi e ricordi di viaggio. Realizzati in cera, con antiche e moderne tecniche di intaglio e lavorazione a mano.

Ogni disegno inizia da uno schizzo a matita, che viene accuratamente riprodotto nella cera come una piccola scultura, per poi essere gettata nel metallo.

Nata in Virginia, Jennifer progetta e realizza il suo artigianato caratteristico a NY, nel suo studio di Brooklyn. ODETTE NY unisce la sensibilità dell'arte all'evolvere della moda.

Viaggi verso luoghi lontani, osservare l'arte, camminare attraverso il bosco, guardare collezioni di immagini storiche, sfogliare vecchi libri.

Cera e metalli: argento e oro, anche non preziosi come bronzo e ottone. Jennifer è interessata alla patina che si sviluppa nel tempo.

Lavorare con la cera è come fare una scultura. Ogni disegno ha il suo stampo, con cui i gioielli vengono replicati e quindi concretizzati.

A volte preferisce la libertà di creare qualsiasi disegno, altre, invece, è bello elaborare ed esplorare un tema.

L'ultima si basa sulle montagne scandinave, ritagliando così diverse varianti di cime fino alla forma giusta.

Jennifer non vuole comunicare qualcosa di preciso, semplicemente vuole creare qualcosa di bello, interessante, unico, autentico.

L'artigianalità e la scelta delle sue creazioni si allontanano volutamente da ciò che il design detta.

Uno stile classico, dal tocco bohémien. Il tratto distintivo di Odette NY è un'estetica biologica, che firma poi le sue collezioni.

La sua creatività è qualcosa da cui è impossibile separarsi, come una forza guida. L'espressione di ciò che vede e che riesce a plasmare con le sue mani.
