Who ever says that insects and those things that shrink can not be the protagonists of an accessorizes collection?
Do not forget that the punk movement was the first to adorn vulgar items, discardedby the beauty and strictly common kitsch.
Interview with Michelle Sanchez, designer for Silent Cheese Cake and his jewelry-glass vials.

_ Tell me about yourself, your dreams, your life, your fears.

I'm a mother, an illustrator and a jewelry designer from Los Angeles. I'm also a student of the academy of art.

My dreams are to graduate and become an art director and hopefully open up my own boutique in San Francisco.

I was planning on selling artwork, my own designs-along with that of other hand-made artisans.

I fear being misunderstood more than anything.

I love what I do and I want others to see the beauty in my jewelry and art. 

_ Source of Inspiration?

Nature, insects,vintage elegance, wunderkammers, science and preserved specimens... Oh, I have so many!

_ How is your day?
My day begins with sending my children to school and then I begin my school work.I work on my designs at night when the house is quiet. I'll usually set-up the vials and work on two at a time. Sometimes I can have six or more completed that week. I usually post my items on the weekends.

_ Which material do you prefer?

Well, I usually work with glass- vial and microscope slides.

The wax I buy from various places, some craft shops and candle supplies on-line.

The same goes for the insects. Some from bug fairs and others from insect suppliers.

_ What Is CREATIVITY INSIDE You?

Beauty can be found anywhere. Even in remains and discarded objects.

It's amazing what you can make out of objects that would normally be tossed away.

Chi lo dice che gli insetti, e tutte quelle cose da cui rifuggiamo, non possano essere i protagonisti di una collezione di accessori? Non dimentichiamo che il movimento punk fu il primo ad adornarsi di elementi volgari, scartati dalla bellezza comune e rigorosamente

kitsch.

Intervista a Michelle Sanchez, designer di Silent Cheese Cake e le sue fiale di vetro- bijoux.

_Chi è Michelle?

Sono madre, illustratrice e designer di gioielli da Los Angeles.

Sono anche una studentessa all’Accademia d’Arte.

Il mio sogno è quello di laurearmi e diventare una art director, ma auspico anche di riuscire ad aprire la mia boutique proprio a San Francisco: mi piacerebbe vendere opere d’arte, i miei disegni, insieme a quelli di altri artigiani.

La paura più grande è quella di non essere capita.

Amo quello che faccio e vorrei che gli altri riuscissero a vedere la bellezza nei miei gioielli e nella mia arte.

_Quale il messaggio delle tue creazioni?

La bellezza può essere trovata e vista ovunque. Anche nei resti e negli oggetti di scarto. È incredibile quello che si può creare con oggetti che, normalmente, sarebbero gettati via.

_ Com’è organizzata la tua giornata?

Sveglia presto per mio figlio, facciamo colazione insieme e lo preparo per la scuola. A quel punto, da studentessa mi dedico ai doveri dell' Accademia. Solitamente, lavoro alle mie creazioni di notte, quando la casa è tranquilla. Aggiorno la boutique di Etsy nel week end...

Mi piacerebbe che questo potesse diventare il mio lavoro a tempo pieno.

_Che cos'è la moda?

Moda per me è il modo in cui ci esprimiamo al mondo visivamente. La prima cosa che notiamo dell'altro è il modo di vestire e gli accessori che lo adornano. Si tratta di una espressione di ciò che ci affascina e ci attrae. Ci sono tanti modi di interpretare la moda, è sempre personale.

_E che cosa è la creatività dentro di te?
Sempre fedele alla mia visione. Creare ciò che sento e immaginare, senza mai compromettere il mio lavoro. In caso contrario, si perde l'originalità.
